I believe that the four seasons which are the changing seasons play an important role in play The Ugly Duckling are fall, winter, summer and spring. It was stated there that, "During fall and winter, the ugly duckling wanders alone." This explains that during those seasons, he suffers from fear, loneliness and sadness. He spends a miserable winter alone in the outdoors. He mostly hiding in a cave on the lake that partly freezes over. Then, it was stated there that, "In summer and spring, he flies away from the marsh." This means that in this season, he meets up with a group of swans. It is when a flock of swans descends on the lake. And he soon realizes that he has become a beautiful swan. On the other hand, they affect animals in a way that the four changing seasons let animal adaptations triggered by it. Animals tries to blend in the environment. Animals behave different season by season. Then, they affect the plant life in a way that there comes the process of reproduction, leaf production, growth and dormancy. Organisms tries to survive seasonal environmental changes and increases the chances that their offspring will survive. The four seasons encourage the growth of both animals and plants. And they affect the weather in a way that it is different in every season. The weather can get warm and cold season by season. Overall, as the weather changes, plants change too, and animals change their behavior to suit the four changing seasons.
