Ambrose Tong is a Chief Financial Officer of a reputable clinic chain company. One of his main responsibility is to overlook the finance department.   Ambrose is concerned about how effectively his division is using its networking (internet platform) and human resources. When he reviewing the payroll reports, he found that many overtime hours are being claimed by staff of his department. He does not believe that the employees have sufficient workload to warrant working long hours. He is considering request IT to monitor the internet usage of the employees (what websites did the employees visit, especially those employees have high overtime claims).1. Justify your suggestion.(1) Ethical issue involved in this case is that the employees are doing overtime but still are not getting paid for the extra efforts they make on a daily basis as the cheif finanacial officer Amborse Tong does not believe that the employees have sufficient workload to warrant working long hours.
(2) The stakeholders are the employees of the organization. They have been affected in a negative sense as obviously the stress levels are high because work load is high due to which they have to work for more hours and still are not getting paid for the extra efforts they are putting they could have utilised this time to be spend with their families and enjoy their lives.They must be feeling that organisation is being unfair as they are being exploited on a daily basis and no one is their to hear and solve their problems this will lead to a stressful , rebellious and aggressive organisational culture and may futher lead to increase in absenteeism of employess and high employee turnover.
(3) Ambrose's alternatives if the IT moniter shows that the employees have been using internet not for the organisational work then he has two alternatives
First is to ignore their requests of pay for overtime with a hope that they will stop demanding if they will be ignored.
Second is he can punish the employees who were claiming salary for extra working hours by deducting their salaries so that an example can be set for other employees who will repeat this kind of trick for earning more than others even without doing any work.
Ambrose's alternatives if the IT moniter shows that the employees have been using internet for the organisational work only then he has two alternatives
First is to ignore this fact as if nothing has happened in order to save the money of the organisation.
Second is paying the employees who were demanding the payments for working overtime.
Third is along with payment giving them sense of recognition for making more efforts than other employees thereby encouraging them to continue working for the organization with full dedication.
(4) The course of action I suggest to Amborse tong if the IT moniter shows that the employees have not been using internet for the organisational work is he can punish the employee hours by deducting their salaries it will stop these kind of unfair privileges that employees were taking just for the sake of earning more than other employees.
The course of action I suggest to Amborse tong if the IT moniter shows that the employees have been using internet for the organisational work only is paying the employees with that giving them sense of recognition this will increase the loyalty of employees as they will feel organization is considering their needs and is concerned about them which will increase motivation and commitment among the employees and reduce the employee turnover of the organization.
